About Coaching
CONFIDENTIALITY: First and foremost all conversations between you and I are confidential. Client confidentiality is the highest and most important coaching ethic.
What is Life Coaching? For decades successful athletes, singers and actors have employed personal coaches to get them to be the absolute best by accessing their deepest level of natural talents and bringing it forth. People who use coaches achieve remarkable results in their personal and professional lives. They have substantial advantage over those who don’t. Those who use coaches are on the fast track to closing the gap between where they are and where they want to be. Your coach can help you unleash your own greatness!
A life coach asks both tough and gentle questions to illuminate the answers you have within. Pointing out different perspectives on issues you struggle with. Brainstorming with you to improve relationship and work conflicts with yourself and others. Life coaching can help you with all aspects of your life: family, career, finances, relationships, living environment, health and spirituality!
How is life coaching different from: Therapy, sports coaching, consulting or your best friend?
- Therapy. Coaching is not therapy. Coaches don't work on "issues" or get into the past or deal much with understanding human behavior. Rather, they help move you forward with focus on setting and achieving personal and professional goals that will provide the life you really want.
- Sports Coaching. Personal coaching includes several principles from sports coaching, such as teamwork, going for goals, 'being your best'. But unlike sports coaching, most life coaching is not competition or win/lose based. Coaches strengthen your skills rather than focus on beating the other team. It's a 'win/win' focus.
- Consulting. Coaching is a form of consulting, but the coach stays with you to help you implement the new skills, changes and goals to make sure they really happen.
- Best friend. A best friend is wonderful to have. But is your best friend a professional whom you can trust to advise you on the most important aspects of your life and/or business? Does a best friend know the right questions to ask? Can a best friend provide meaningful distinctions, and point you in the direction of valuable resources? Will a best friend push you beyond your limits? Have a best friend and a coach.
Who uses a coach?
Bright articulate women and men who:
- Value personal and professional development.
- Want to make a difference in their families, organizations and communities.
- Want more out of life than they are getting now.
- Are willing to explore and discover new possibilities.
- Understand that investing in themselves will result in a big payoff.
How long does coaching take? This is a hard question to answer, as it varies with each individual. Typically clients work with a coach for minimum of 3 to 6 months. Some clients decide to remain in the coaching relationship after their initial challenge has been resolved. In our hectic lives it provides them the time and space on regular basis to “think aloud” and work out issues with an objective 3rd party.
What does it cost? Cost varies depending on the length and frequency of the sessions. Once the fees are established, payments are made in advance the first of each month.
When, where and how are coaching sessions conducted? After the initial consultation we determine which of the plans is most appropriate for your needs. You receive a welcome pack from me with information and some paperwork to complete and return. You then meet with me regularly over the phone for 30-40 minute sessions. I will be on hand for additional support if needed between sessions.
GETTING STARTED - We begin with a 1½-hour initial intake session. We explore what has brought you to coaching identifying what you want to get out of it and setting goals that reflect what you want to achieve. We talk about logistics, make mutual commitments and get started.
THE ONGOING PROCESS - Coaching usually takes place in 30-40 minute phone sessions once a week. My coaching approach is to create a partnership with you, one that is equal and focused on your goals and agenda – not mine. My job is to keep my eye on the big picture you have outlined while following what’s important in the moment, knowing that every thought, idea, question and discovery is in service of your goals.
AS YOUR COACH I will support you in seeing new perspectives you may have not considered, offer guidance, provide resources and tools to help you plan your next steps and celebrate your success with you.
ACCOUNTABILITY is one of the most important things I offer as a coach. When we are accountable we are more likely to achieve our goals.
Are you ready to be happy and fulfilled? Life coaching is for people that are truly ready to create a successful life for themselves. A life coach is skilled in helping you make radical improvements in your life. If things are pretty good, but you want them to be great… coaching is for you.
